Bravo/ Writing/ Week 6

Dear Bravo students,

Your creative task due 31.10.2011 (Monday) is as follows:

* Think about the people who lived in ancient times, such as the stone age (prehistoric times), the Roman Period (Roman Empire), etc. Pick one of them and write about the people who lived in those times and their life conditions. (How they lived and what they used to do in their daily lives or in times of war). Also, think about the good features of their lives, too and compare them with today's life conditions.

What to include:

- used to/ didn't use to
- would
- be/ get used to- be/ get accustomed to
- past& present tenses

Vocabulary:

- from the glossaries (at least 2 words from each list)

Reading Journal Task 2- İnci Gültekin

Dear Bravo Students,

I'd like to assign the second reading journal task from the Chapter 2. You haven't gone through the second reading. Therefore, focus on any point you've come across from the 1st reading in Chapter 2. Remember to write at least 120 words. Plus, late journal entries will not be accepted and assessed as of this week. All journal entries should be done on the web. Pen-and-paper submissions will be returned.

You're kindly expected to write a journal based on the theme/reading(s) in the 1st Chapter of Issues for Today.Do not forget to integrate with the 2nd reading text which we studied TOEFL reading strategies on Friday. Hi again,

I just wanted to make a couple of reminders (as usual) for the weekend homework. Please REMEMBER to

1- read and complete the answers for the reading material sheet I handed in on Friday (theme=culture)

2- do 3 reading text activities from dbe.offline.readings book. By the end of each 7 days, you will have completed 16 texts (2 per weekdays; 3 per weekend days)

3- complete the exercises from Top Notch exercises from the previous units 1,2,3,4.

P.s: Time for a second chance for the ones who haven't submitted TN WB U5 and GD2 WB U9 on Friday. I'll accept them if you bring on Monday.

Bravo- Writing

Dear Bravo students,
Your assignment due this Tuesday is to write a paragraph about ONE of the following topics:
  1. Write about a disaster such as an earthquake or flood you experienced or heard from the news, movies etc. including the words from the glossary delivered the previous course, and past simple and past progressive tenses.
  2. Write about one of the customs in your country such as death, marriage etc. using direct& indirect objects, seperable& inseperable phrasal verbs, and vocabularies from the glossary.

P.S. : You are supposed to highlight the words (at least 2 words from each category), and underline the grammatical structures (past simple, phrasal verbs etc.)
