I'd like you write 150-200 words.
Your journals are due next Monday.
Late journal entries will not be accepted and assessed as of this week. All journal entries should be done on the web. Pen-and-paper submissions will be returned.

The content of the text rejoiced me a lot because it isn't needed words for communication. The most important point the author underlined is babies, specially comparing deaf and hearing babies. When parents have a baby, sometimes they cannot understand if the baby can hear or it is deaf. At the time they realised the situation of their baby, it may be too late. In my opinion, it is definitely wrong that language isn't only made up for words. The author puts his finger on the problem with babbling and hand movements. For infants language starts to use hand movements. After this point, it changes. Hearing babies start to babble. Sounds turn to words. Words turn to sentences. It is a certain way for hearing babies to learn languages. On the other hand, it is a little bit different for deaf babies. Their hand movements improve, and they turn to basic signs of American Sign Language (ASL), so they learn the language which their deaf parents use. I want to add something. The text is left half finished because the author mentioned Dr.Petitto's theory about hearing babies who have one deaf parent and one hearing parent. This topic is so exciting. I really wonder the result of this theory. As a consequence, the text is wonderful for me.

    ISSUE: Language:Is It Always Spoken?

Every healthy people know their native language insensinly when they are growing up.This text especially mention that how babies learn to talk when they are growing up,but it didn't mention only this subject. Also, text explains that which learning skills are the common way when they borned in different situation. On the one hand, the author gives some informations. On the other hand, the author gives many scientific researches for prove theories. If babies have speaking parents, there is no problem while they were learning language. If they have deaf parents, they learn language without hearing. After I read this text, another situation appeared in my brain. What happen if baby's parent speak different laguages from each other? Can babies learn two different languages correctly at the same time or they confused about it? Then I reseach this subject in the web and found this anwer:If parents speak different laguages correctly and regularly, babies can learn them without having no problem, but there is one important point while teaching. Each parent must choose one language and always must speak it.For example, when mother is speaking turkish, father must speak english every time.In this way, babies can learn each languages from different persons easily.

  3. I believe in some abilities that we're have are innate. The scientific results on this text showed me speaking-or communicating- is one of those abilities. The research that made by Dr. Petito looks like to improve this idea. There is always a solution in this life. The sign language is very useful for deaf people, especially deaf babies.Because they didn't hear anything from their birth ,they can count as mute. They can make some voice, but couldn't speak. It's so sad. This text maked me interested with itself a lot. There's something that take my attention;a baby who have one deaf parent and one hearing parent learn communicating in two ways.It babbles with words and signs. It was interesting ,because it shows us all we can improve sign and speaking language in the same way.If so in later years maybe all babies will have chance to learn both of those languages.I consider this kind of future and it looks good, so none of people havetrouble with communicating with each other except they don't resist to not to understand like this time.

    ISSUE: Language:Is It Always Spoken?
Babies learn to communicate in different ways. All of us may think, communication is just speaking. For instance, deaf babies...How do they learn to communicate?I have never thought about it until I read this reading and I learned that our ability for language is innate. In other words, deaf babies follow same pattern except talking.Actually, deaf babies speak with their hands. They have a special alphabet. It is the first I have tried to speak with hand shapes,I comprehended, it is exactly the same normal alphabet.Alphabet’s name is ASL and deaf parents use it to communicate with each other and with their babies.According to the research, deaf babies make the hand movements like their parents. In additon, their hand motions start to resemble some of the basic hand-shapes.On the otherhand, hearing babies start to babble.Consequently, people born with the capacity for language. It does not matter if we are able to speak or not.

  5. I found this text very educative. There are some useful information about how people start to speak. Babies start to make sounds approximately at the same time. As we all know their babbling turns to words in time, but there is something not all people know. It’s how the deaf babies learn to communicate. Author gives us some info. There’s this Dr. Petitto who made some scientific research about this case. According to her researchs all the babies -deaf or not- starts to make motions with their hands at their same age, but there’s a difference between deaf babies and hearing babies. All infants made motions with their hands, but the deaf babies made same hand movements over and over. Hearing babies started to babbling then they made real sentences. Like their improvement the deaf babies improved theirselves. Their hand movements turned to hans-shapes used in ASL and they made ASL sentences. This research shows us that people born with language ability no matter if they are deaf or not.

  6. The main theme of the text is very engrossing.I think so because this text claims that our ability for language is innate. This text explain this idea with different way.The way is about comparison between hearing and deaf babies. Also this text touch on educational point. These are how to speak starting deaf and hearing babies, and why babies use hand movements.Furthermore this text express this instructive details with using scientific data and explanations. Finally the author corrects a mistake which is the most known. We think that speaking makes only with words but deaf babies communicate each other with hand motions and movements with the order.(NOTE:this order's name is ASL.)According to research we learned that some of hearing babies which have a deaf parent and a hearing parent produce their first words, both spoken and signed at about same time. This example erase will erase question marks in our head.
Eventually just humans have the talent for language and we must remember that speaking system doesn't contain only words

  8. I'v always been curioused about how I'v learned to speak since I was a baby.Answer is quite obvious;by speaking ofcourse cause without hearing it is impossible to make sounds. That mean's listening is the basic of speaking.Which mean's İ do not think speaking is somekind of inner instinct . According to text speaking come's naturally. Then howcome deaf people can not speak ?Text has a scientific value so that kept me on track. Also by this text I learned that body language and sign language are different things.

    ISSUE: Language:Is It Always Spoken?
This text was very educational for me because I did not know anything about how people learn to talk, specially babies.I did not think about this issue even this before. The text helped me to realize that.At the same time I also realized that, language is not always spoken.Language to communicate with people is everything. Before I thought babies repeat sounds what they hear, and they learn to speak this way. When I thought deaf babies,I understood it is not like that.Laura Ann Petitto,a psychologist, has sudied how children learn language. She observed three hearing infants and two deaf infants. The hearing infants had speaking parents, the deaf infants had deaf parents. After studies, they saw all children made many different motions with their hands, but the deaf babies' movements were more consistent and delibarete.During the studies, the deaf babies started to use ASL,American Sign Language, but this time hearing infants started babbling, then they made sentences like real.Deaf babies and hearing babies started to speak anywise.Linguists believe that our ability for language is innate.I totally agree with them.People communicate with others some way.It does not matter how it is.I understood, the only thing is important to communicate with this text.
